Yes. By definition, a soap is a substance made from natural oils or fats reacted with sodium hydroxide or another strong alkali; the resulting compound is very alkaline in nature (high pH of around 9 - 10). The skin's pH is slightly acidic (pH approximately 4.7 - 5.7). Traditional alkaline soaps are very efficient cleansers of fatty substances and have the effect of stripping the skin of its naturally protective oils, compromising skin barrier function. This may result in dry skin or, for people with compromised skin conditions such as eczema, a worsening of skin condition.
We don't use this type of technology, (so yes we are soap free) however what we do use are a blend of coconut derived cleansing agents (surfactants) with good foaming properties which do not strip the skin of its protective oils.
